African-American historian, Carter G. Woodson is credited with founding the Association for the study of Negro life and History.  In 1926, the group declared the second week in February as “Negro History Week” the precursor to what we celebrate today as Black History Month.

As the Center or Hope distributes thousands of food supplies to families across McLean County, we thought it a good idea to look at a few of the contributions that African-Americans have made in the food industry.  Please join us in celebrating these groundbreaking inventors, developers, creators, and cooks and their outstanding accomplishments.
